Sony Blu-ray Player and Vaio PC
Sony has released the first generation of Blu-ray player, BDP-S1, in 2006. Now four years has passed and Blu-ray is not likely to be so successful developed and used as has been expected.
Sony announced the coming out of BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc Player, a Vaio RC desktop owning a recordable Blu-ray drive as well as an internal Blu-ray disc drive for computers in 2006.
Although Blu-ray technology is said to represent the latest generation after DVD, it still has a competent opponent—-HD DVD, which has been the top priority of many users. Blu-ray, with the marvelous immense storage capacity up to 50GB, won the fierce war with HD DVD temporarily.
The vigor of Sony’s Blu-ray has been diminishing for quite a time because there are still some remaining problems to settle, and the main restriction is the high price that is caused by the complex manufacturing and the costly expense, and it seems there is no sign for large-scale price dropping. So Blu-ray still remains caviar to the general. Both the BDP-S1 player and the Vaio desktop are a little bit expensive, which will frustrate a large number of Blu-ray fans including me. Hope the price be adjusted to a desirable level.
